Show LEEDS. The First Mill Arrived. Jailor Jailed in His Own Prison. (ypiiciitl Corroi-pondiBce Too.i'EUYLLLE, Dec. 3, '76. Leeds ii still red hot and getting hotter. The Leeds S. M. Go's sump mill came in yesterday. It is the beginning ot our greatness. Others will follow. Several are already talked of and arrangements being made by able parties to bring thorn in; but don't let everybody get excited over it. Silver Reef city is a booming place for a new one. Buildings are springing spring-ing up there very much like Jonah's gourd or Aarou's rod nothing like being last and it is fast business men who are at the helm. Those men from Nevada who know the kind, quality and character of the mines at Leeds are willing to stake their own money on it. There is a big rush of people to this camp, nearly all of whom are engaged in it building towuj. Alter the towns arc completed the grass will be Bhort with many. Perhaps then they will pitch iuto mines more lively. Bonds on mines, or leases, are more in demand than deeds of purchase. The big strike on the Bonanza that I spoke of in my last is more than 1 represented it to be. They are shipping ship-ping high grade ore from it to Pioche. The vein is seven feet wide. The Willis mine, on which our Pioche friends, Gepfred and Beys-acher, Beys-acher, recently made their strike, is said to be very rich. Tom Vance has made a strike on his claim on the White Reef at a depth of eighty-six feet. The ore is very good and the strike a valuable . ono, aa it demonstrates the continu-ousness continu-ousness of tho vein in the White Reef, this shaft beiug about one and one-half miles south of the Scott, mine, which is two miles Bouth of the Luna, which shows that the vein is continuous for at least three and a hall miles. The Morning Star reef is also showing up well, and has heen now traced for many miles both north and south. The Duffiu mine on this reef has always been one of the richest in the country, and is as good a mine as any here and will bring a big prico and make lots of money lor somebody. A good joke was got on Ash Nebe-ker Nebe-ker and Ben Boweu a few days ao, thusly: Ash and Ben had been away from home and returning at night, and Ash's wife beiug iu the city, Ash being sheriff of (sugar) Kane county and having the keys of the jail, they concluded to take their blankets and sleep that night in the jail. They did so, but in the morning morn-ing Mr. Slack, the county clerk, coming around before Ash and Ben were up, turned the key on them locked them iu the jail lor part of a day, and while they were iu the loik-, loik-, up some of the boys telegraphed to , the city and Beaver that Ash and Ben were in jail. This report has occasioned the many friends of Ash in the city some uneasiness, and hence this explanation of the joke is due to them. Since he got out Ash has actually done some work worked on bis mine went out to stay two weeks, blistered his hands in half a day and returned the next. Swapping Swap-ping kyuses suits Ash better than work. SncEB. |
