The committee on the judiciary have agreed to report re-port favorably on the resolution oflered by Representative McCreary yesterday providing for the appointment appoint-ment of a committee to act io conjunction con-junction with a committee of the ssnate to secure a count of the electoral elec-toral votes and the determination of tbe disputed question by a tribunal whose nutboriiy none can question and whose decision all will accept as final. The committee postponed notion on the Colorado matter unlil next Monday. Tbe house committee on appropriations appro-priations to day absigned to Representatives Rep-resentatives Holman, Blount and VV'alilron the preparation of the post-office post-office appropriation bill and this subcommittee sub-committee will meet to commence their work to-morrow. The republican senators held a caucus this morning. There was considerable iutercliaugd of views on the political situation. ho action was taken, but the senators separated iu a confident spirit. It was claimed that the refusal of Crouin to act with the two republican electors of Oregon created a vacancy whiuh the majority ma-jority of the college bad tbe right to fill, which they did by electing Watts. During the democratic caucus on Thursday evening the opinions expressed ex-pressed were generally conservative. It was held that the pending questions ques-tions between the two parties respecting respect-ing the electoral vote should be pressed distinctively, and all side issues which would divert the public miud therefrom should be avoided, and in litis connection it was said that there should be no movement toward tbe impeachment of the president. presi-dent. An effort to convict would faii in consquence of the present composition com-position of the aenats. The discussion was principally participated in by northern and western democrats; but when some southern democrats were appealed to for their individual opinions they expressed themselves as favorable to calmness aud moderation, modera-tion, staling in this respect that the conduct of Wade Hamptou afforded an example wortby of emulation, but owing to the peculiar returns ol the south they preferred not lo lake any active part in the discussion.
