Show Centennial Stamped Envelopes. j During tho Centennial exhibition at Philadelphia the postoffice department depart-ment will issue stamped envelopes of special design, styled Centennial, stamped envelopes. They are of two' sizes number 3, full letter, and j number 4, commercial; of but one grade of paper first-quality white; and of but one denomination three cents. The embossed stamp is in the form of a shield, inclosing a mouuted post-boy, train of cars, and telegraph pole and wires, as the principal' figures. The design is tho same on both sizes of envelopes, the only ' difference being that the full letter size is printed in green, and the commercial size is vermiJlion. The paper is specially water-marked. These envelopes will be issued only when specially ordered. Special requests re-quests will be printed when ordered, ; subject to the regulations governing the ordinary specialrequest envelopes. en-velopes. The Centennial envelopes, both plain and request, will be charged at the same prices as the ordinary envelopes en-velopes of corresponding sizes, quality and denomination, namely, $32. SO per thousand for the full letter, and $33 per thousand lor the commercial. They will be accepted for postages at any postoffice in the ; country. Their issue will be discon-; tinued at the close of the Centennial exhibition, but those outstanding at hat time will continue valid. . |
