Show ' AN ORDINANCE 1 Licensing and Regulating Plumbers, ami for Other Purposes. Pur-poses. SEtriON 1. Be it ordained by the City Council of Salt Lake City, that no plumber shall lay any nervico pipe or do any kind of plumbing plumb-ing work, connected, or to be connected, con-nected, with tho Salt Lake City Water Works, unless he is licensed and gives bonds as hereinafter provided. pro-vided. Sec. 2. Application for a plumber's plumb-er's license shall be made in writing lo tho Mayor, aud upon payment to the City Treasurer of a yearly license fee of five dollars, and giving a bond with approved security, to the acceptance accept-ance of the Mayor, in the penal sum of five hundred dollars, conditioned lor tho taithful observance of the ordinances, rulcB and regulations, relating lo tbe Salt Lake City Water Works, the Mayor is authorized to license such applicant, which license shall be issued and registered in the same manner as other licenses. Sec. 3. No plumber shall make an extension of any pipe or water ; fixture attached to thc water supply, I for tho purpose of conducting water 10 any oilier pari oi me same ouuu-ing ouuu-ing or adjoining premises, for any purpose whatever, without first obtaining ob-taining a permit therefor from the Superintendent of Water Works; and plumbers, upon completing any plumbing work connected, or to be connected with the water works, shall, within twenty-four hours, report re-port the same to eaid Superintendent. Sec. 4. No atop or draw cocks shall be used in connection with the water works where tbe opening fur water is over a quarter of an iucb in diameter, except the kind known as compression cocks. Slide valves may bo used to fill railroad or other tanks when a wate is not wanted, aud where the pipes are thoroughly protected from frost; also for hose connections, or where a separate sep-arate waste is used. Sec. 5. No telegraph pole, hitching hitch-ing or other post shali be set nearer vice pipe; nor shall any water survice be hiid within six feet of any gas service; and no gis or water service trench in any street, alley or side- ! walk shall be left open during tho night. Sec. C Any person violating any ol the provisions of this Ordinance, or of the ordinances, rules aud regulations, regula-tions, relating to the introduction, supply and consumption of water from the Salt Lake City Water Works, shall, upon conviction, pay a fine not to exceed one hundred dollars for each oflence; and if tho oflouder be a licensed plumber ho shall, in addition addi-tion to such fine, forfeit hia license, which shall not be renewed for a term of thirty days.
