In the Oregon electoral investigation, Grover testified testi-fied that thero were no arms in tho state homo or in the private house of witness on tho day of the meeting ol tho electoral college, or at any time afterwards; did not know Bellinger; was assured from New York that certain parties in tho east would be responsible for all necestary expenses iu this electoral matter. It was after tho college met that Bellinger collected col-lected money for the messenger's expenses. On the morning the electoral elec-toral college met, witness directed hie secretary to draft the cerliricatea of electors and deliver them to the secretary secre-tary of stale. Watts of Oregon testified that he: resigned the post mastership on the 13th of November by telegraph to the postmaster general. Tho day following follow-ing he received a reply that his resignation had been accepted. He made his returns and ended all connection con-nection with tho postmastership on the 15th nf November. His successor : was appointed on the 14th. i Cronin, wishing to return home to attend to his private business, was, excused from'-- further attendance.
