Show The First Peach Shipment-8. Shipment-8. P. Teasdel shipped on Tuesday Tues-day the first car load of Utah dried peaches ot the year, being about a week later than the first shipment of last. year. . Though the present peach crop is much smaller than usual the shipments of this fruit will be considerable. Owmg to the abundant poach crop in the east for shipment prices are not largely increased, although the Utah fruit takes the preference in eastern markets mar-kets at the highest rates. This crop is OQu of great importance to the territory, ter-ritory, and being principally prepared for market by the women and child-rren, child-rren, and always saleable for cash, furnishes a considerable revenue to the home exchequer, the decrease of which is often severely felt. 'Dried peaches from nearly all parts of the territory find a ready market in this city, Mr. Teasdel having received quantities from points 350 miles south from here. The early frosts of last spring, combined with the drouth, are supposed to be the principal causes of the Bhort crop of this soason. j |
