Grent numbers of people aro in attendance at tbe Centennial grounds to witness the formal closing of the Centennial exposition. ex-position. Shortly before 2 o'clock, President Grant, escorted by Governor Haivley, ascended to the platform, followed by the Centennial commissioners, commis-sioners, the board of finance, the foreigu commissioners and Sivited guests. After the excitement occasioned oc-casioned by the presence of General Grant had subsided, the orchestra, under the direction ot Theodore Thomas, performed Wagner's inaugural in-augural march, composed for the 1 opening exercises on the 10th of May last. At its conclusion, Rev. Joseph I A. Reiss ollered up a prayer. The chorus, accompanied by the orchestra, orches-tra, then sang a choral enitled "Fugrie," by A. Bach, alter which an address was delivered by the Hon. L. J. Morrill, United States Centennial Centen-nial com missiouer from Pennsylvania. The chairman of tho executive committee's orchestra then rendered selections, after which Hon. John Welsh, president of the Centennial board of fiuance, delivered au address, ad-dress, followed by Beethoven's fifth symphony. " Director General Goshorn then ad-, drfsscd the audience at length. Handel's Hallelujah chorus was next given by the orchestra and the chorus, aud then Joseph R. The audience then joined in ringing "America," after which President Grant declared the international inter-national exposition of 1S70 closed.
