Show Genuine bargains in Wall Puper, Cornice .Mouldings and Kliml Xriiiimiiii3 at M. I. Carpet JSoom, located over the Cieneral OHice. P2'J Territorial Exhibition. Salt Lake City, Feb. 9, 1S70. E.li:ors Herald: Inasmuch as Utah cannot be represented re-presented at the great Centennial fair, ior the want of eufficieut means for transportation and other expenses, h3d n-e not better follow the example of California and get up a show for Utah here in Salt Lake city with the material already gathered by the committee and relief societies, and that which can be gathered from the mines and other sources, and combin-bining combin-bining with the present museum , make a good show, and lay the I lounuation for a lorritorial musrum so much needed? The money thus expended would be a permanent in- vestment and help to bring public I attention to our interesting territory. The question will bo asked, who will this beueiit? Everybody. It will bring strangers here, who will leave money with railroads, hotels, livery men , and let people see and know Utah as she is. Where are you going to get the necessary means? The legislature would not object to making a small appropriation. Salt Lake city council would donate, railroad rail-road men, hotel keepers, livery stable proprietors, and business men generally gener-ally would contribute. For a building build-ing and grounds the city meat market and lot, now unoccupied, could be used, with a trifling outlay. There is no immediate danger of its being used again for its original purpose, as tho idea of concentrating meat mark-eta lias long since been exploded. Hoping that all will join in thia much needed enterprise, I remain yours, PltL'SSIA. |
