Almost every Urge city on the continent has n goo 1 buggy road except ex-cept Silt Lake; and Salt Luke of all other large cities is bust adapted to enjoy ono, for being without other Bources of amusement such as many important towns possess, the only resort of tho city pleasure seeker is to hire a speedy horse and take his lady out for a drive. But' wo have no street suitable for this exhilarating pastime; almost every hundred yards the diiver is required to slacken hia pace and walk through a gorge of mud and water, and if he finishes his ride without coming in contact with numberless boulders and abrupt inequalities in-equalities of the ground, dangerous to life and limb, he may consider himself him-self under tbe special protection ol providenoe which he never ia. What we want ib a good, hard road macadamized or rendered durable by othor process. Then, and not till then, may we expect to see some good-looking turnouts and some excellent ex-cellent driviug. |
