The committee on streets and alleys, to whom wad referred tbe petition of Thos. Fenton, asking that the street south of Pioneer bquare be repaired, reported that they did not deem it expedient at this time to expend funds upon tbe Btreete but rather to use all available means ' towards securing an increased water 1 supply for the city as soon as practi- cable. The committee therefore i recommended that tbe petition be laid . oyer for tbe present and the prayer not granted. Adopted. J The committee on irrigation to ( whom was referred the petition 8 of li. Kimball and others in i relation to the scarcity of water in the vicinity of tho canal on Sixth South and Fourth West Btreets, reported re-ported that upon investigation tbey learn that in former ycara the petiti-tiouera petiti-tiouera have not used the water lor surface irrigation, their laud being low and requiring drainage more than irrigation. The committee recom mended that the watermaster be instructed to allow the water to flow to the land of tbo petitioners one day in each week to relieve their present pres-ent necessity. Adopted.
