Richards was then 'chosen chairman, with Mr. S. H. Hilla secretary. Tne object of tbe (meetine wa3 briefly stated by the chairman, as looking to the organization organiza-tion of a society or corporation which ehould have for its object the protection protec-tion of fish and gama in this territory. An informal discussion of the subject took place with a view to ascertaining the opinion of the gentlemen present as to the moat feasible plan of procuring procur-ing the desired reiulta. The objec-Uona objec-Uona in the way of enforcing the existing laws were enumerated, the principal being that of tbe odium that would probably attach to person? making complaints against parties for violations of the laws. Tne expression of ths meeting waa that a society of tbe character under consideration ehould be organ ized; that a constitution and by-laws abould be adopted, which would seek to enforce the existing lawa and procure pro-cure such others as are necessary for tbe proper protection of fish and game; that one of the firat steps should be to aecure the appointment of the commiisionera provided for by law; that the society should lend its aid to procure evidence against viola vio-la tora of the law concerning fish and game; that the funds of the society, j by whatever means it might be determined de-termined to obtain them, should be devoted to procuring tbe neoessary aij ; that inducements in the shape of rewards might be made to obtain testimony; that a system of vice-presidents vice-presidents or directors should be adopted by whiob influential men in the several counties in which game abounds could be induced to take an active interest in the matter ; that prosecuting attorneys Bhould be aided and encouraged in securing tbe punishment pun-ishment of those guilty of the wanton destruction of fish and game, or kil Hog them out ot season. Thore was also seme discussion a3 to the propriety of associating with the above plan one looking to the prevention ot cruoKy to auimals. Though this idea was believed to be a good one, the general feeling waa averse to uniting tbe two, and it was therefore left for another society. The matter of the protection of small birds was also talked of, and seemed to meet with favor, but aa there is no law on thia subject, tbe society was powerless in the matter save so far aa legislation might be procured at the approaching eeesion of the legislature. The plan of a permanent organization organiza-tion waa then referred to a committee of five, conaieting of L 8. Hills, LeGrande Young, John Sharp, jr., George A. Mceara, and H. J. Richards. Rich-ards. The meeting then adjourned uutil next Tuesday evening, at 7 o'olock at the same place.
