The committee to whom was referred the petition of the base ball and cricket association, rendered the following report, which was adopted; iour coinmittne to whom was referred the petition of Salt Lake City Baso Ball and Cricsct association, proposing to rent tho wtst halfof Washington square, reepecttully recommend that tho prayar of the petition hts granted, provided they repair tho fence on tho west side and itso half of tho north and south fences: put up a fence on the centre of the block running north and south; orect good and sufficient gate-;, and pay to tho city corporation cor-poration five hundred ($300) dollars, for the use of tho west half of said square for iho term of sit months; and provided, further, the use of Aid ground shall be 'reo for all other clubs or parties wishing io use tho lame for three days in each week; and that ail practice games on iiid ground shall be free to all spectators; specta-tors; and fcr all local match games the rum of twenty-five cants may be charged or adults and half-price for children under 12 years; and in caso uf other match gauios, involving heavy expense, ihese rates may ba increased to doub.u he amount. Tbe committee on municipal laws were instructed Lo report an ordinance to carry into effect tbe tonitorial law granting to citiea tho right to impose a tax for constructing water works and extending mains.
