Fern, of Conn., was electpd president presi-dent pro. tern, by a vote of 39 to 25 for Ttmrinan. The consideration of the resolutions admitting Pincbback, -was resumed, Morton continuing his argument. Ferry, on taking the chair as president pro tern, thanned the sena-1 tors for the honor and promised to perform the duties impartially.
