Show Why Is It? Kditors Herald: Your correspondent would like to ba informed, as would many others, why the Union Pacific railroad charges tbe outrageous sum of $3.65 for passage from Echo to Ocden, upon up-on either lreinht or passenger trains. a distance, I believe, of about thirty-six mi!es. There is quite a population in tho vicinity ot Echo, ! vho,.liko myself, often have bust- ness in Sail Lako city, and would prefer many times to take tho longer route by rail rather than the shorter one by private conveyance, were the prices reasonable; but when they are called on lor more than twice the amount which the Utah Central charges for the same distance or a little greater, they open their eyes with astonishment, and conclude the next time they have business in Salt Lake city, it will be better and cheaper to "hitch up" and Lake the shorter cut witn their own conveyances, convey-ances, as being quite as sure, iuvolv-ting iuvolv-ting liltle.iif any loss of time, aud much the cheapest of tho two.
