Show A. & P. Telegraph. Col. J. J. Dickey, superintendent of the Atlantic & Pacific telegraph company, is in town, and yesterday completed arrangements for opening in this city a telegraph office. Heretofore Here-tofore the Salt Lake business of the company has beentransacted by the Deseret company at Bome considerable considera-ble inconvenience. The A. & P. have leased one wire of the Deseret between here and Ogden, and will Btretch another to that point, giving them direct connections with their east and west overland lines. The office will be opened to-morrow, New Year'f, at Barnes. fc Anderson's building, north of Walker Brothers. Mr. Charles Drake, a genial lightning light-ning striker from Omaha, will have charge of the Salt Lake office. We are glad to learn that Col. Dickey has received such encouragement from the business men of the city as warrants war-rants nira in taking this step. |
