Show furty-xixth SEMIANNXAL j CONFERENCE. THIRD DAY. Wednesday, S;h,10 a.ai. Choir Bang. Prayer by Elder Angus M. Cannon. Elder Angus M. Canson said when our enemies have planned our destruction de-struction G 3d b.is delivered ua and made the wrath ol man praise him. God haa prospered us, but do tht people realize at what eost of toil, trouble and labors ol our parents the blessings we enjoy have been obtained? The speaker noted a disposition in some to associate with evil persons, which associations he very much deplored. de-plored. The general authorities of the charch are about to be presented to tbe congregation to be eustained or 1 rejected by them, and be wished that ! people would weigh well this matteri and if they voted to sustain these authorities they ibould do so in pn vate as well aa in public. Eldkr Erastl'5 Snow: One of tbe ancient propnets. speaking of Z:on'a enemies, said: '"Let cur eye be upon Z:cn aid let her be defiled;" also, "Tue Lord will have them in derision and laugh at their calamity and mock when tueir fear comet n." Tee wicked do not comprehend the ways ot the Lord; they cannot, because they are to be spiritually discerned. We are called to be the children of the light; blessed are they who continue con-tinue in the light. Tne commandment of the Lord to the saiotB is "Watch," for tbe day and the hour when the Son oi Gcd shall come is not revealed. Many things are spoken in tbe scriptures scrip-tures with a view to induce taints to he ever watchful. Tbe parableof the ten virgins is an illustration of the uncertainty of the coming of the Son of God, and aiso of the truth which we are loath to admit, that a large number ot the saints will be found without oii iu their lamps. Tbe speaker instructed all those who bold authority amongst the people to read and notice the 2oth chapter of Matthew, Mat-thew, aod take head least they should be found like the unworthy servant spoken of in the parable. Our enemies say now, "Let our eyes be upon Zion and let her be defiled" and let her daughters be defiled, her temples destroyed, and sacred things be trampled under foot and everything thai Satan can put into their hearts to injure this people and to try the righteous is being done. The Lord has a controversy with the nations and it becomes us to be very humble and faithful before tbe Lord that we may he counted worthy to stand wijen the day of destruction overtakes the earth. Referred to the vision of Lehi and ihe rod of iron which lead 1 safely through mietsaud clouds those i who continued to held on to it. The speaker ihen referred to the rearing , and proper training of our children as a duty of Ihe greatest importance, Hud animadverted with force upon the practices of tbe world in depopulating depopu-lating the land by means ot infanticides :and foeticide and other destructive practices ot Christian monogamy." He called the attention of the presidents presi-dents of stakis and their counsellors, counsel-lors, aud bishops of wards to see to ihe temporal condition of the families under their charge, that they are properly employed, tor "an idle brain in the devii's workshop." Counselled to introduce various branches of industry in-dustry and to employ every person capable of working. See that no lounging places are allowed to exist in our towns and cities for the youth to waste their time and learn evil practices. One of the duties of our school teachers should be to teach morality, and respect lor virtue and honor and truth. There baa been too great a tendency amongst some of young men to seek easy births in the couuting room, or behind tbe counter, and parents are leading themselves to shielding their sons from the eame class of worthy and valuable experience experi-ence as thsy have passed through themselves and which has proved so valuable to them. It is far preferable for presidents and bishops to send their young men and newly arrived immigrants, under the leadership of Hood sterling experienced men to occupy new countries, bring out the waters of streams, build and run saw mills, and wrestle with nature for a subsistence as their fathers have douo before them. Fear not to occupy land in the surrouning country, whether in this territory or neighboring neighbor-ing territories, and take unto yourselves your-selves wives, and be faithful and multiply mul-tiply and replenish the earth, and build up cities unto God. We wish lo have men ou Ihe borders, and tbo neighborhood of the Lamanites, to cultivate the spirit uf peace and good will, and to be prepared to be good examples ex-amples lor all men to follow. We want many gooa nocest men to scuay the Spanish language and the languages lang-uages of the natives, and be ready to take missions at abort notice. The general authorities of the church were then preoented, without change, and unanimously sustained. President John Taylor was sustained as Trustee iu-Trust, on tbe following motions: I "It is motioned that John Taylor bo aud he is hereby appointed Trustee in-Trust for the body of religious worshippers wor-shippers known and recognized as the Church of Jesus Curist of Latter-day Saints, to hold the legal title to its property and contract for it, and that ho execute bonds." Also: "It is motioned that we accept and approve a' boud in the Bum of $100 from the Trustee-in-Trustee, with the apostles as bis sureties, find that said bond b? made payable to Ihe presiding presid-ing bishop ot the church, for the use and benefit of said church, said boud to be executed before and attested by the general churdi recorder." The Lud has always, even as far back as tec-days tec-days ol Abraham, required tithing from his per;-':? aUo rtJcrice. Let all men j who occupy offices in the church be j men of probity, honor and integrity." He then thanked the brethren for tbe order which had been maintained, and the choir for their punctual attend-1 ance. ! Choir sang "I Will Exalt Thee, O! Lord." Benediclion bv Elder Orson I Pratt.
