Show THE CRAZY PEOPLE VIRGINIA VIR-GINIA CITY. The only topic of conversation here is stocky; everybody is rich, and everybody; has made a fortune within the hist bO days that is, to hear them tell it. Everybody is also happy. Those who have made money are I happy because they have, and those I who nave not are happy from the reflection re-flection of. the wealth of others-happy others-happy thnt they may mingle, and move among and be asked to drink by the representatives of millions. The amount of money made is incalculable. incal-culable. They will tell you that Jones holds 3,000 shares of California which cost him thirty-five: Smith has S.000 shares that he got when "she was low," and Brown has got 11,000 or 12,000 stiares tucked away that he got just as she was beginning to jump; and so on through your entire list of acquaintances or prominent men. From these stories I have made a calculation cal-culation that the California contains forty-three million shares, and its present selling price is about seven thousand billions. As you walk along the streets east of C street, men will say to you: "My boy, you are now walking over the richest in inn tlm wnt-M lino otor known; right under your feet are untold un-told millions; the 'bonanza' is about 400 feet wide, so far as heard from, and the Lord only knows its length." One enthusiastic individual assured me that the day would come when "that ere bonanza would be worked north and south from Reno to Carson ; and east, hell, you'll have to go to the eastern boundary of the state to j catch her." This is encouraeing to Austin to know that the "bonanza" is under her streets; and I earnestly advise anybody having the necessary capital (or credit) to commence the sinking of a shaft in Pouy Canon, at once.
