Show Filth. Editors Herald: The warm, or rather hot, season ie now rapidly approaching, and as a consequence the Commercial Btreet alums commence to assume an odor that is (ar from pleasant and healthful. health-ful. A wullc down that thoroughfare will convince any person that therp is enough filth of different kinds lying around in that vicinity to poison the air of a large portion of the city, and breed enough diphtheria to fill many little graves. The odor arising from decayed and decaying vegttatileB, Chinese wash houne Blops, and out- : pourings from Main street business houses, is not as ofleuaive now as it will be in a few weclta hence; but it is bad enough, and should be attended to ere the street be'omes much worse. Aod while the "clearing up is ijuing on it would be well enough for the city officials to see to other places as well as the one mentioned above. There are entirely too many places that are almost as bad as Commercial strcot, and which will aid as disease-breeders as soon as the mercury runs up a little higher. They cannot be attended to too eoon for tho health of the enm-I enm-I munity, and it is to be hoped that a general clean-up will be indulged in right away. Quao3. |
