Show City Council. Meeting of the city council, Tuea day evening, Mayor Wells presid ing : Petition of John McDonald, asking the privilege of piling building ma terial for a term of three months, is front of his premises on East Tern pit street, was granted, the same to be under the direction of the street supervisor. Petition of C. M. Stevens, asking for an auctioneer's license for one year, wan granted. Petition of Z. Snow, for an appropriation appro-priation of $500 for Bervices as city attorney for the quarter ending Dec. 31st., was referred lo the committee on claims. Petition of Utah Central railroad company, asking that street lamps be erected at the south-east corner and on the south Bide of the depot block, was granted. Petition of Rohert Dixon and eighteen eight-een others, asking that a water tank be placed at the springs on Third South street, between First and Second west, was granted. The committee on improvements presented bills amounting to $116.43, for monev fixrtfindftd in imnrnvfimp.ntn at the bath house and cemetery; appropriations ap-propriations made. 1 The superintendent of insane asylum presented bill of expenses at tho abovy institution during the month of January, 1S75. The amount, $G97.82, was appropriated. Tho marshal aud chief engineer presented bills of expenses in those departments for the month of January, Jan-uary, 1875, amounting to $761.45. Relerred to the committee on claims. Alderman Pyper filed his report of caseB tried in the police court for the month of January. The report showed that during tho month eip nty-one nty-one cases had been tried $488.60 been collected in cash fines, and $388.80 in labor fines. The committee on claims to whom was referred the petition of J. Morrill, Mor-rill, asking that $50 be appropriated, as compensation to the petitioner for a valuable dog which had been poisoned and killed by the man employed em-ployed by the marshal for destroying unregistered dogs, reported and recommended re-commended that the appropriation asked for be made. Report adopted. Bdls of the gas company lor gai used by the corporation for the seven months ending January 30th, 1875, amoun ing to $054. SJ, wre allowed and appropriated. Poli e bill for services during January, $1,023, was allowed. Bill of William Hyde for hoarding city prisoners during January, $376.-05, $376.-05, was allowed. The chairman of the water works committee stated that tho committee was not ready to report on the motion mo-tion presented last week, and asked further time, which was granted. The committee on improvements was instructed to enquire into the' propriety of erecting more gas lampB in the streets of the city. Council adjourned till next Tuesday Tues-day evening at 6 o'clock. |
