Show Codling: Moth. We have been shown a piece of bark about half an inch in diameter1 from an apple tree in this vicinity, which has upon the surface that was next the tree what appears to the naked eye to be a sort of mildew, but which the microscope develops into about 1 7,557 J eggs of the codling moth white, grey and red in various vari-ous stages of development. Anyone versed in mathematics could bodo form an estimate of how many this city probably contains of that interesting inter-esting embnotic worm. It is siid that coal oil well laid on with a good brush h:is a depressing effect upon the constitution ot this interesting little insect. Qttien Sabe? |
