Show The Mt. Olivet Water Question,, The suit in which was involved tho right of Ml. Olivet Cemetery to divert certain waiors heretofore used by the residents of the east beuch from the proper channel, came up before Alderman Raleigh yesterday morning. The matter having, been cxArnioed by Mr. Rawlins, city attorney, and it appearing appear-ing the water was outside the corporate limits o( thin city, and could not ho reached under an ordinance, ha therefore recommended recom-mended its dismissal, which recommendation recom-mendation waa followed. This, however, how-ever, does not determine that tho cemetery has a right to the wa'er, only that (be city has no jurisdiction over the nritter, tho land and water lyiug within tho military reservation. If, therefore, the east benchers are still desirous of coutcsliog the right to tho water, they bave recourse to the Third district court, aud it is probable the matter will bo taken there for adjustment, as the residents aro net disposed to give up the water without a strucgle. |
