Show Territorial Rifle Association. Editor Herald ': At a meeting of riflemen, held on Thursday evening last, Mr. H. Speirs was elected chairman, and O. Yan-dercook Yan-dercook seen 'ary. Mr. G. A. M.'ears explained the object of the meeting and fehowed the advantages which would arise from the organization of a territorial rida association. M re bra-Black, bra-Black, Speirs, Kabo and others expressed ex-pressed themselves as entirely in sympathy with the movement; as having no doubt of its ultimate success. suc-cess. After some discussion as to the best method to pursue, Mr. Mecare offered the lollowing resolution, which was, upon motion, adopted: Resolced, That this meeting elect a committee of three, whose duty it shall be to communicate wiib ail known niie clubs in this territory, for tbe purpose of ascertaining from each organization or representative ri lie man their ideas in relation to the establishment es-tablishment of such an association as we have in contemplation; that all suggestions thus elicited shall be pro sented as part ol the report of said committee, who shall present the result ' of their labors at an adjourned meeting, meet-ing, to be held in this city on Monday, Mon-day, January 2Sih iuat.; that upon tbe receipt of such report tho riflemen present at the said adjourned meeting shall take Bucb action upon the sug gEstionB as may seem advisable, and then proceed to eflect the organization organiza-tion of the Utah Rifle association, taking as a general guide the constitution consti-tution and by-laws of the California 1 riila association, making such alterations altera-tions and amendments as may, upon consideration, appear necessary." 1 Upon motion, G. A. Meears of the Pioneer Rifle club, John Sharp, jr., of the Deseret club, and R. Hawkins of the Amateur club, were elected as said committee, and instructed to proceed at once. With reference to the above, the undersigned committee respectfully invite the cooperation of all who are interested in the subject, and earnestly earnest-ly request all lovers of the nil a to give tbem their assistance in carrying out the duties imposed.
