His crime wis Ihe murder of Herbert 0 White, in October, 1876. He died protecting his innoceuso, He said he had his suspicions as to who committed commit-ted the murder, aud thought a man named Miusey, and another named Carpenter, may havo been coifCerued in tho fiQair. "I leel as though I had been robbed and murderid aud lied into my jravo. I lay tho whole of it to my counsel, EJmiuster & B-ilchel-der." Gravclin asserted bis innoccoee in strong terms, and sid: "I feel as though I hud beeu robbed and murdered mur-dered and lied into my grave.
