Wood, one of the prominent promi-nent merchants of Challta city, Salmon Sal-mon River country, arrived in this oity Friday night and reporla that he met a great many persona between Challia and Blackfoot goiog to the mines and that the roads were in good condition. Those desiring to take up farms in the valleys in close proximity to the mines will do well to avail themselves of the opportunity of getting good land by starting early. He advisea parties, unless they are well prepared to prospect pros-pect and work during the summer without depending on labor for a "grub stake," to Btay away, as the demand for labor will be limited until more of the mines are opened. The mines on Killikinick creek, which have been worked the past winter, are producing some rich ore, which will be shipped to market aa soon aa the snow melts sufficiently (o permit it. The Hood and Beardaly mines in Bay Horse district, are also producing a large amount of ore of a medium grade, and the famous Ramshorn mine, in tho same vicinity, keeps up its reputation as a rich ore producer. Mr. Wood says he waa informed by Messrs. Kirk and Emery (hat they are now down fifty feet on the Vermont Ver-mont mine and from developments already made thia property proves to be a veritable bonanza. Part of the ore will average from $70 to $S0 in silver ami gold and to eighteen inches to two feet of the vein will assay from $350 to $900 per ton in gold and silver. Be considers, from locations made in theimmediato vicinity of this mine last year, that eome of them are destined to occupy a leading position thia seaaon as ore producera. Among them, might be mentioned the Last Chane.fi. Grenn Mountain Bnv Emma, Uknow, Iknow, Alturaa and Broadway mines, a number of which are looated by Utah parties, and will be worked vigorously thia apring and summer. From present indicationa the above mentioned mines will be ore producers from tho start. He alao reports considerable boow in the Yankee Fork district, but the boys who are wintering there aro making some good developments, notwithstanding the difficulty of locomotion loco-motion through tho beautiful. Work ia progressing finely on the dalmon river bridge, and it will ob completed about the 15th of April. He aUo states that Lost River valley val-ley ia being settled very rapidly, while a great miuy improvements are making, and considers the outlook of the Salmon River country to be the moat flittering.
