The senate, yeiterdny, adopted the following: follow-ing: Whereas, The interference by officers of the United Suit s in popular elections is justly regarded by the people of this state as an evi! of the great magnitude; and Whereas, Tho manifest purpose of such interference, in part at least, is to influence and control the action of the state in selecting electors for president presi-dent and vice president of tbe United States; therefore, Ji'esolued, That tbe committee on federal relations be instructed to inquire in-quire into the expediency of providing by law (or the selection of electors for president and vice president by the general assembly until tho acta of congress authorizing interference by federal authority are repealed. |
