G. W. C. Clare. Soc'y. Tbe communicalion was referred to a special committee of three. Alderman Alder-man Dinwoodey and Councilors Jos. F. Smith and D. O. Calder were appointed such committee. An appropriation of $2,544 78 was made to cover expenses incurred for water pipe and freight on the same. John H. Rumel, Henry C. Fowler and William Hyde were appointed a board of commissioners under the ordinance to assess the cost of grading sidewalks. Tbe bid for an ordinance regarding opium smoking was tben taken up on its second reading, and after consideration con-sideration passed by its title. Tbe bill for au ordinance relative to licensing billard tables, etc., was taken under consideration. The council adjourned till next Tuesday evening, at 7 o'clock. |
