Tbe platform first favors making United StateB notes full legal tenders: aecond. favora the retirinc oi national bank notes and substituting United States treasury notes therelor; third, the national government alone should have power to iasue legal ten-de-s according to tbe wants of tbo nation; fourth, favors funding the debt at home; filth, opposea the in cr?nue of bonds; aixth, United States bonds should bo taxed like other property; seventh, unlimited free coinage of silver; eighth, inter cbanx ibilily of gold, silver aud paper dollar; ninth, legislation to prevent the federal courts interfering with state courts ; oleventb, favora government aid for the Southern South-ern Pacific rai'road and llis-sin?ippi llis-sin?ippi levees ; twellth, tarifl fur rtvenue only. Additional resolu tionB were adopted favoring the whole snle system of public schools, inviting immigration, endorsing tbe Potter committee and insisting that the1 crime by which President Hayes was seated be exoosed and the crimi nals punished. That it is tbe sense of this convention that the colored population of Arkansas are identified in interest witb the great democratic party of the state, and fully recognizing recogniz-ing the importance of a harmonious feeling between them, embrace thia opportunity ol amii-u them (the j colored men of tiio bUib) to coopera- : tion with ug in furthering our common com-mon interests. |
