Show Jos Gordon Convicted. Joseph Gordon, whose dealings in counterfeit money have made him notorious, has at last been caged. His first trial took place in Delaware, where the government sought to convict him of dealing in counterfeits, but failed. Since that he has twice faced a jury in this city beforo Judge Cadwalader, but his lucky star was in the ascendant ascend-ant and he escaped conviction. It looked doubtfnl at the conclusion ol his trial before Judge Cadwalader on Monday afternoon, owing to tho hard swearing of bis relatives, whether he would not again break through the meshes of the law. The jury came into oourt yesterday morning with a Bealed verdict finding him guilty, with a recommendation to mercy. Judge Cadwalader said significantly, with reference to the recommendation: "I will give what consideration to it I can, gentlemen." Santence was deferred. |
