Pedestriaus weio obliged to go a block out of thuir way, and omnibuses sought side streets. This state of things lasted till long after dark. The block extended fr.-m Chambers s p;ot to tho Buttery, nearly a mile, and comprised vehicles of all d scnpLtons, mainly trucks with holiday gotds for outward bound steamers. A similar scene ia looked for lo-dny.
