Following is the oath ol office to which Lord Lorm subscribed upon laudiug to-day: "1, Sir Juiiu Douglays Sutherland Campbell, commonly called Marquis o( Lome, doswear tnat I will be laith-1 ful aud bear true ailetiauce to her j majesty, Queeu Victoria, and will i dffrti.d her to thn umnwl of n.y power! against all conspiracies and attwmpls whatever, which shall be made against her persou, crown or dignity, and I will use my utmost endeavors to disclose and make known to her majeity, her heirs and survivors, all treason and treacherous conspiracies which may be lormed against her or them, and I do faithfully promise to maiutaiD, support, and defend to tho utmost of my power, the succession in the crown, which such succession, by an net entitled "An act for tho limitation oi the crown and better securing the rightB and liberty of the subject," is and stands limited to tho Princess Sophia, electress of Hanover, aad the heirs of her body beiug Protestant; aereby utterly renouncing and abjuring any obedience or allegiance al-legiance unto any other person claiming or proteudiilg a right to the crown ot this realm, and I do declare that no foreign prince, person, prelate, pre-late, ttate ot potentate, hath or ought to have any jut isdiction, power, superiority or authority, gubernatorial or spiritual, within this realm, aod I make thiB declaration -upon the true taith of a Christian, so help me God." - - - Having appended, his signature, Judge Ritchie addressed hia excellency:' excel-lency:' "You shall well aud Iruly execute the office and truBt of governor-general of Canada, and the territories terri-tories extending thereon, and duly and impartially administer justice therein, so help you God.' You shall do your utmost endeavor that all the clauses, matters and things contained in the aeve.' al acts of parliament heretofore passed, and now in force, relating to trade aud her majesty's colonies and. plantations, be punctually and bona fide preserved according to the true interest and meauiog thereof, bo help you God. You shall well and truly execute the office ol deeper ol the great seal of htr majesty's dominion of Canada according lo the best of your knowledge know-ledge and ability, so help you God, And the oath was administered. While the jurat was being eisued by the judge, the governor general nauded the great Beal ol the dominion to the secretary of Btate, Hon. Senator Aikins, saying "I hereby give into your hands the great seal ol the dominion for safe keeping." Halifax, 26. The governor general, alter the reception at the Government Govern-ment houce last night, returned to the Admiralty bouse. They remained there this morning resting aod will nos go out until afternoon. At S 30 p.m. the governor general will hold a levee at the council cnamber, which to day will be largely attended. atten-ded. The grand feature of to-day will be a torchlight procession pro-cession which leaves the Admiralty house at 6.30 p.m., when firemeu will escort the marquis and princess through the principal paris of the city, wh;ch will be illuminated to the residence of Sir Patrick AlcDougall, where the vice regal party dines.
