Show New Books.. Mr. S. M. Powers, agent, has received re-ceived a number ol new b.ioks, for the sale of which ho is about opeuing the canvass in this city. Among lb em are the following: holiday Gtrr dock. The "Table Book of Art;" P. T. Sandhurst, Ph.D. This is one of the earliest, and best of the holiday books that have yet made their appearance. It cousiats of a history of art in all countries and ages, aud is bpecially designed for the people instead of the few already acquainted with the delightful Bludy. The author rightly holds that it is not only as a source of intellectual pleasure that painliug has a high value, but it is a means of quickening the intelligence and cultivating the mind, "Itawukts the dormant faculties; it is the wine of life, vi Allying, lightening, and etreuglhening." Bradley & Company, publishers, Philadelphia, have just issued a valuable valu-able book, entitled the "EnoyclofJia of Wit and Wisdom."
