Show Since the above was in type we have obtained some information that will provo specially gratifying to the tie cutters and their friends and will occasion corresponding chagrin to Judtre Hollister and the Idaho ring. A private telegram states that the secretary of the navy has remitted tbe fines imposed by Hollister, and ordered tho release of the prisoners, their sentences being revoked, and j penalties mitigated in whole. The railroad company is simply required tu pay the stumpage tax on tbe ties cut by the parties. This prompt action ac-tion on the part of the administration administra-tion is a terrible rebuke to tbe judicial fanatic whose zeal to punish Mormons has led him into tbe perpetration of a gross outrage upon justice and decency. After having been set down upon in this manner, a sensitive man would at once retire from a position which he so plainly disgraces; but as Hollister is not a aenaitive person, and withal is one of those highly moral individuals known as bread-and-bulter ollioials, it is not i probable that he will retire unlil De-l De-l cember, when he goes east on leave i of ubsence, to be extended indefioile- ly. His term expires Bometime dur ing tho coming winter, and he ob-f ob-f tamed leave of absence in order lo ' draw his salary as long a3 possible, ' though he does not expect to return to Idaho after going away, having purchased a home in tbe south. |
