The Junction gives more particulars of the recent outrage upon juatice perpetrated in the district court at Malad, when the Utah and Northern tie-cutters were fined varicus euma aiid bcnteiicid to impris nment for ddli-rent periods. It appears that alter the parties had been adjudgtd guilty, their counsel gave notice of appeal, and requested tbe court to fix the amount of the bonds, bat Judge Hollister evidently did not intend to let the men escape the punishment that be had designed for them. He rolused to accept as bondutBen persons per-sons not residing in Idaho, then declined de-clined to lake the Utah and Northern railroad company as sureties, and finally absolutely refused to take anything any-thing in the nature of a bond except money, which waa to be forftited if the defend ants did not appear, and to Island as a pledge for the payment of tho fines incase Ihe appeal failed. I fortunately tbe-official term of this I brutal judge ia drawing lo a close, and his opportunity for tvil coming to an end. His retirement from the bench which bo has so shamefully disgraced will be the signal for rejoicing in the southern Idaho district. EffortB are being made to release tho tie-cutters, but witli what success wo have not lrr.rt.t-d. |
