On both of theee chargeB be was acquit-, led; but whether tbe public believed him innocent lor that reason, it would be difficult to say wilh any certainty. However, he baa developed a new phase he has made his exit from thifl portion of the earth, and leaves many to mourn bis bsf. Rumor baa it that he hm started for England. Be that a? it may, he ba? cleared out of his quarters near tbe Kimball Elook, heavily in debt to his landlord, to persons from whom he made pur chases on trust, to others from whom be borrowed money on time, and some it ia said he baa swindled swin-dled outright. It ia asserted that be acid out his business to Mr. John W. Snell, and then disposed nf it to other parties, and has finally departed, roping rop-ing our citizens in to the extent of several hundred dollars. He cleared out several days ago. It ie also alleged that be stole the book?, ledgers and tools belonging to Mr. Snt-1 ; in faot, that he made a grand haul and then left. The report has it that he has ielt bis wife here. In tbe event that the above reporta are correct, there is every reason to believe that be has paid Salt Lake a final farewell. |
