Show Police Court. The charge of Belling liquor on Sunday, prefeired againBt a number of aabon keepers, was dismissed, yesterday, owing to the failure of the witnesses for the prosecution to put in ao appearance. What influence was brought to bear on them to prevent pre-vent their appearance ia unknown, but it is certain that they have cleared the town. It is said that they boarded the train for Odeu at Centroville, on Thursday afternoon, and the opinion is entertained that they have departed for California. A cise of horse whipping was disposed dis-posed of, the defendant being fined ?7.50. It appears that the tny who was whipped provoked the assault, and the punishment waa lenient in consequence. Four gamblers were arrested and, pleading guilty, were fioed $90 ech. A boy was arrested for PEeault assault as-sault on a Chinaman. |
