Show WASHINGTON. aahington, 11. The prospect of an issue being raised between the house and the senate coucerning Stanley Matthews' failure to obey tiie subpoena of the Potter investigating committee has been a'most entirely di. ipated to day. Chairman Potter's letter to Matthews, assuring him that the committee has no desire to inter- , fare with his performance of Beua. tonal duties, but, on the contrary, desires to meet his views of convenience as to time of attendance, attend-ance, etc., is construed to indicate very clearly that the democratic mem bers of the committee intend to allow the matter io drop quietly out ot sight. Matthews, of course, will not find it convenient lo appear before Potter's committee while congress remaiuB in session, and after the adjournment iha committee will obviously have no means of pressing the issue any further, fur-ther, and Matthews will continue to ignoie alike its subpeena aud this luttat BUggestion. |
