The clearing house association had a private session tbis aftornoon to consider tbe report of tho committee which recently had a conference with Secretary Sherman. Resolutions were introduced calling upon tbe different New York banks to aid the secretary in removing tbo prciont proraium on gold so that resumption re-sumption of specie payment may be a settled fact before the time fixed by law. The following plan of action after January 1, 1879, waa decided upon: First To decline receiving gold coins as speoial deposits, but accept and treat them as lawful money. Second To abolish special exchanges ex-changes of gold checks at the clearing bouse. Third To pay and receive balances between banks at the cleariog bouse, either in gold or United States legal tender. Fourth To receive Bilver dollars upon deposit only under special contract con-tract to draw the aame in kind. Fifth The probable payments ol balances at the clearing house in silver certificates, or in silver dollars, excepting as subsidiary coin in email sums, Bay under $10. nixth lo discontinue the goiu special accc.unt by notice to dealers on the 1st of January next, to terminate termi-nate then. Filty banks were represented at the meeting which lasted an hour and a half.
