Show Utah Delegates to Congress. Tlie Washington correspondent of the Lynchburg (Va.) ' Viryinian, writes the following truthful language lan-guage to that journal The usual attempts have been made in the House to worry the delegate from Utah. They occur at the commencement com-mencement of every Congress. Some patriots dispute tho validity of his election, while others object to his admission ad-mission under ' any circumstances, fearful that their morals may be corrupted cor-rupted by his presence. In the Senate, Sen-ate, also, Frchnghuyseiv introduced his yearly bill to prohibit polygamy in tho Territories. Of course, all this indignation is exhibited for ellect on pious constituents, and often by men . of doubtful private character. Indeed In-deed I have ollen noticed that when a Congressman, is engaged in a big steal, or when he supports, in the suburbs of Washington, a privato establishment es-tablishment not presided over bv his wife, he seeks to withdraw suspicion from himself by furiously pitching into Brighani Young, or the delegate from Utah. But this has got to be pretty well played out. Utah has been represented in Congress many years, and the official and personal conduct of her several delegates has been of such a character that not one of them has ever been suspected ot wrong doing. do-ing. They have never been charged with dishonesty, intemperanco or licentiousness. li-centiousness. They have never been connected with any ring or job, nor havo they over endeavored to procure tho passage of bills to subserve their personal purposes, but hiyve invariably exhibited a devotion to the interests of their constituents which other - representatives repre-sentatives mi-T'-! co y to advantage," |
