The committee appointed ap-pointed some clays ago tu arrange for holding a notional railroad convention conven-tion here on November 23d, held a meeting last evening to devise a general gen-eral plan of operation and arrange the preliminaries. After some general gen-eral discussion a resolution was adopted authorizing the president of the meeting to issue an address seizing seiz-ing forth the action and object of the people of St. Louis in calling a national railroad aouvoaliaia, cvutl i-a- questing the cooperation of tho governors gov-ernors of states and of various commercial com-mercial associations of tho whole country, and asking them to send delegates. Committees were appoin t-ed t-ed to determine the ratios of repre -6entation, transportation, finance, etc. During the discussion of this matter attention was called to the fact that Borne journals abroad had attempted to create tho impreesion that the citizens of St. Louis, in inaugurating this movement, were lDfiuenccd by purely local and sectional interests. This waB emphatically denied, and it was distinctly stated that the wish was to matte the move national in its character, and the cooperation of all business centres in the Union was earnestly requested. |
