Show Theatre. A very good variety hill was pre- ' sen ted last evening, and it was well performed. In the "Eton Boy" Mr. Chaplin created a deal of amusement, ' personating the character of Captain Popham and Fanny Curry, keening the audience happy. Miss Walters ' also assumed a double character with auceess. Then in the absence of Miss Minnie Ellsworth, who was announced announc-ed to sing a duct with Miss Georgia Clawson, little Miss Edith Ciawson made her first and very creditable appearance ap-pearance in a pretty song, which was encored. Better late than never, Miss Minnie made her appearance and the duet was finally sung and encored. A clog danoo followed by Mr. Madden, and Mr. John Hardie made his first appearance in a ballad. He has a good voice which gives evidence evi-dence of careful culture. In the burlesque, ''The Lady of the Lions," the fun was immense. Mr. Chaplin as Tolly Ann, and Miss Walters as Widow Meddle-Not, beat the Dutch, and the audience dispersed in good humor. Saturday evening Mr. Chaplin will have a benefit and make his last ap- j pearance, when the moral drama of "Jack Sheppard the Housebreaker," i a sensational play- founded on facts, j will be presented, Mr. Caaplin personating per-sonating Jonathan Wild, and Miss ' Walters Jack Sheppard. The per- formance will conclude with the ' beautiful comedy of the "Eton Boy." . Mr. Chaplin deserves and wc hope i will receive a rousing benefit. |
