Show Bender. This morning constable B. V, Hampton starts for Kansas with the elder Bender ns a traveling companion, com-panion, Tho seemingly apuroach-ing apuroach-ing trial and execution of the old man have no apparent ell'ect on him, except to make bun less communicative. communi-cative. Since Tuesday he has been more reticent than usual, scarcely over speaking. He apparently understands un-derstands all that is said to him, but makes no reply to questions asked. In accordance with the instructions instruc-tions of Governor Osborne, Mr. Hampton Hamp-ton will take the prisoner direct to Topeka, and thero turn him over to the authorities. It is evidently the intention ol the Governor to prevent a lynching by the citizens, which might be the caso should Bender be taken to the scene of his murders. |
