The Li fur-Ocean's special telegram from Washington saj'B Senator Morton has prepared a proposition as n substitute for Mr. Sherman's bill, which he intends to offer in the form of a resolution, instructing in-structing the Committee on Finance to report a hill authorizing such additional addi-tional bank currency as may be sufficient suffi-cient to equalize the distribution of National Bank currency among the Statea, upon the basis of the act of 1855; aud that in determining the amount of increase necessary to be apportioned among the States as the Secretary of the Treasury shall loot to the speculation, wealth and business busi-ness interests of the country, as they existed January if 1S74. ' The resolution re-solution repeals that part of the act of 1870, which provides for taking twenty-five million dollars from States having an excess, and giving to those which have less than their quota. A special to the Tribune says the drafts upon the legal tender rc-tiurve rc-tiurve have been quite heavy f late. It is ouieially stated that thirty-one millions were expended up to and including Thursday, leaving but thirteen millions unexpended. |
