William Welsh, lay delegate from Philadelphia, stated th ut he had papers relative to the Seymo-ir case which he would hand over to the secretary elect, if Lhe latter lat-ter would furnish him copies of the other charges relating to the same subject which were in Ins pofees.-ion. A discussion ensued, many ol the delegates from Illinois churning that these paper should he the pioperty of the House and not a subject of barter between the deli gates from Philadelphia and the House, They were of the opinion that Bishop Seymour ought at least to have copies of these charges brought against him. The whole matter was tabled, ! alter which Welsh handed in hi8 documents with the remark that it ' did not mailt r to him.bul he thought iie would oiler a little opposition. The committee on the btaio of the church submitttd an extended report ion tho condition of the church at the present time. Gratifying accounts from all parts of the country in regard re-gard to her welfare are received, but it was a matter of regret that the number of candidates for h ly orders had decreased since 1671. The committee com-mittee recommended the erection of a building fund, and commended the condition of the church in the South to her more fortunate sister church orth. The committee on amendments to canon 21 on the subject of divorce recommended by the bishops reported a resolution to strike out sections 1, 3, 4 and o, and make section second read: Of marriage and divorce. No minister of this church shall solemnize solemn-ize matrimony in any case where there is a divorced wife or husband of either party still living and when a divorce was obtained for soma cause arising out of marriage; but this canon shall not be held to apply loan innocent party in a divorce for tue cause ot adultery or to parties once divorced seeking to be united again. Placed on the calendar. The committee on the subject of postures at communion reported that a change would involve a modification of the ritual, and was therefore deemed inexpedient. Agreed to. The committee on tho division of the diocese of Wisconsin reported favorably. . The subject of ritual was then taken up by Deacon Shattuct, of Mass., and John W. Andrews, of Ohio.
