Show A Western Man for Chief Justice. Mo:t all of our law spits are based 1 upon mining litigation: it gives cer- 1 Italuly three-quarters of the business 1 to the courts, and its interests are ; ! conslanilv increasing as our Territory ' develops. Therefore, an eastern attorney at-torney is nt sea in all mining local i-' i-' ties; it is the bounden duty of the ' Government to select some competent ! man from Utah.California or Nevada ' who is thoroughly grounded in 1 all mining legislation, to fill 'this position. Why.' Because the altoruies now in Salt Lake wouia ue up siraivi iucs who would be aUahjing law, which he whouid have at his fingers ends. We have had enough of this "I'll lake it under advisement;" we want decision and no long calendars cal-endars term after term . A brisk attorney at-torney would clear the docket during one term; the lawyers would be happy, hap-py, for they would get their fees; the clients satisfied, for there would be none of tho "laws delay," and the community benefitted, for times would be brisker and Utah no longer the garden epot for men who owe money and know they cannot be disturbed and eastern capitalists would seek investments when they were satisfied their property would be portected. |
