Show WATER. The Consolidutod Virginia aud Other MiueN Flooded. San Framijco, 25. The following telegram was received at the Consolidated Con-solidated Virginia Mining company's office this morning from the superintendent super-intendent of the mine: "Two hundred hun-dred inches of water broke in from the east wall on the 1400-foot level, on Sunday morning. The stroam has since reduced to about ninety inches. It may run out altogether in a few days. The men are now engaged in diverting the water, to prevent damage dam-age to the mine. The Gould & Curry, Savage, and Hale & Norcross mines are filling rapidly with all pump3 going. All hoidting of ore has been slopped." Later difjpatcb.es to private parties stated ut noon that the water was under control. Stocks have been but slightly affected, the general impression being that no great damage will ensue. |
