Mr. Smith presented the petition of .the Selectmen of Iron county, praying for an approprintion of $-liO, being the amount advanced to jurors in the Second Judicial District during the years of 1872-3, ; Referred to the Committee on Claims and Appropriations. Appropri-ations. Mr. Smith, pursuant to notice, presented pre-sented "An Act amendatory of and supplementarg fo tho charter of Par-owan Par-owan City," . Referred to the Committee Com-mittee on Municipal Corporations' and Townsitps. Mr. Thatcher, chairman of the Committee on Mineral Re&ources, to whom was referred the petition of R-A. R-A. Despain and 193 others, asking' for suitable legislation to tegulate the construction of smelting ad refining works, returned the same, and recommended re-commended its referrenceto the Committee Com-mittee on Agriculture, Trade and Manufactures, as a similar petition was already before that committee. Mr. Woodruff, Chairman of the Committee on Claims and Appropriations, Appropria-tions, to whom was referred the petition peti-tion of A. Miner, praying for "compensation "com-pensation for legal services rendered in 18(12 and 1863 in the Third Judicial District. Court," returned , the same and reported adversely thereto. Report Re-port accepted, and - committee discharged dis-charged from further consideration of the subject; - - - Mr. Harrington, chairman of the committee on judiciary, to whom was referred "An Act to amend an Act entitled 'An Act to regulate proceedings proceed-ings in civil cases' in the courts of justice jus-tice in tliis Toi ritory, and to repeal certain acts and parts of acts;' " approved ap-proved Febrliary lS70, ; reported. ithe same- back; amended,- and- Ttkont-1 mended its passage as amended. The report was received and the bill laid on the table to come up in its order. A communication was received from the Governor, nominating Miss Geor-i gia Snow i for Territorial Librarian. The subject was referred to the committee com-mittee on elections for consideration. Mr. Caine, chairman of the committee com-mittee on revenue, to whom wns referred re-ferred the petition of, A. F. McDonald and 200 others, asking for an appropriation appro-priation of $2,000 for the improvement improve-ment of the Territorial road, "between Harrisburg and .Bellevue, also for repairing re-pairing tlic dugway over the Big Black Ridge, reported that they had considered the same,- and recommended that the sum of $2,000 be included in the general gen-eral appropriation bill for that purr pose. The report was accepted and the committee discharged. . On motion of Mr. Hooper, the .Committee-on Claims "and Appropriations Appropri-ations was instructed to consider the propriety of including the sum of$2,-500 of$2,-500 in the general agpmpriation bill for the purpose of improving the road from Utah county to Ban Pete county via Spanish Fork Canon and Thistle Valley. Mr. Hatch, Chairman of the Committee Com-mittee on Irrigation and Canals, to whom was referred a bill tor "An Act amending an Act to incorporate irrigation companies," reported it back with amendments and recommended recom-mended its passage. The report was adopted and tbe bill passed. Mr. Mann presented a communication communica-tion from the Salt Lake Library Association As-sociation offering to consolidate for the two ensuiug years their library with the Utah library, provid- 1 jng the Legislature "would pass an act making the libraries circulating and providing for the protection, of the books, etc.; and with the above communication com-munication was also presented ft bill for an act ih relation to the matter.
