Show Theatre. The performance of "Hamlet" last night was very superior throughout; indeed it could scarcely be anything else with the cast that appeared in it. Mr. McCulIough, we think, has found the key to the character of the Danish prince, which Hamlet himself reveals, though it is so often ignored that his madness was feigned for the purpose of carrying out the behests be-hests of the "perturbed spirit." Miss Annie Graham played Ophelia admirably, although we understand it was the first time she essayed the role. The Queen Gertrude of Miss Walters was finely rendered. Mr. Vinson's Polonius was a studied impersonation im-personation excellently embodied. The Cladius of Mr. Lindsay, the Laertes of Mr. Sawtellc and the Gravedigger of Mr, Crosbie are entitled en-titled to warm commendation. To-night, Bulwer's beautiful comedy com-edy of "Money" will bo produced. It is one of the finest in the English language, and when played in even an average manner, never fails to yield unalloyed enjoy-, ment. The cast this evening is a strong one, with Mr. McCulIough as Evelyn, Mr. Vinson as Vesey, Mr. Rea as 0tout, Mr. Crosbie as Graves "Oh! my sainted Maria!" Miss Annie Graham aa Clara Douglass, Mrs. Rea as Lady Franltlin, Miss Adams as Georgina; and the other parts in competent hands. ' We can promise those who attend a delightful entertainment. |
