Show DEATH itV KAIL. A Fast Mail TnUn Thrown Oil' (lie Trut-u iu Iowa. Omaha, 2S. The mail train which lelt Chicago on Sunday night, the 26th, on the C. B. & Q. railroad, was thrown down a steep embankment, embank-ment, two miles east of Woodrjurn, Iowa, by the spreading of the track on a twisted rail, about three o'clock yesterday afternoon. The train consisted con-sisted of three coaches, two baggage cars, and a car containing a pair of valuable horses. All but the latter and the engine rolled down the embankment, em-bankment, making two or three revolutions. revo-lutions. James Powers, a section fireman, was instantly killed, and about fifty passengers mora or less injured. One lady, name unknown, had a rib and leg broken. |
