Hempstead and sixty-three other residents of the 17th anil 19th ward bench, asking that the side walk on Centre street, from 1st north street to the brow of the hill, be graded and placed in a safe condition for pedestrians, was granted and referred to the street supervisor. The committee on license, to whom was referred the petition of Henry Wagner, asking that the sum of $bo, paid by him on a beer saloon license. be transpired to his liquor saloon ' license, recommended that tho prayer ( of the petition be granted. The bill of expenses at the insane asylum for October, $471.40, was al The special committee to whom was referred the matter of drafting a lease of the Warm springs premises to Dr. G. F. Munro, reported a lease which was adopted, and the mayor authorized to sign it iu behalf of the corporation. Bill of the De.teret News for printing blanks, and advertising, $18-1, was referred re-ferred to the committee on claims. The committee on municipal laws, to whom was referred the petition of Walker Brothers and others, in regard re-gard to establishing fire limits in tho cry, reported a bill lor an ordinance , on the subject. The committee recommended re-commended that in view of the early completion of the water works, another an-other fire engine asked for by the petitioners, be not purchased. The report was adopted. The bill was read, amended and referred back to the committee for further consideration. considera-tion. The resignations of councilors T. McKean and F. Little were accepted, aud D. O. O ilder and George Reynolds Rey-nolds were respectively appointed to fill the vacancies.
