Show Christian Liberality. When in Deer Lodge recently a certain reverend gentleman desirtd that arrangements should ba made for him to hold services in a neigh- boring camp. Not being intimately ! acquainted there, he applied to a friend for the name of some one in the camp to whom he might address a nolo with a reasonable probability that arrangements would bo promptly and efficiently made. A name was given him the name he naturally presumed of one of his denomination denomina-tion and a note sent accordingly. It was duly received by the merchant to whom "it was addressed. He not only procured ft suitable place for services and made every necessary arrangement for the care and comfort com-fort of the opeaker, but, procuring a team aud buggy, travelled throughout through-out the region around, informing remote re-mote families, ranchmen and min- crs of the proposed services on ft week day evening, and personally urged their presence. Tuo evening came and the largest audience ever assembled at a divine servica in the camp an intelligent, attentive and earnest assemblage, inspiring the wpeaker to his bunt effort. Subsequently Subse-quently tho merchant met the minister minis-ter and oflured apology if ho had in any way failed to fulfil expectations, as long residence in tne mines nau unused him to knowledge of many things the minister might havo expected ex-pected and which he might have ignorantly left undone. The reveroiul gentleman gavo assurance cf his gratitude for amplest effort and kindness, kind-ness, and bears bis merchant friend in kindest memory.- Tho reverend ia Bishop Tuttlo, the merchant is a sincere Roman Catholic. Tho name had been suggested without thought of creed, and the service was rendered ren-dered generously and heartily. "There is no creed in heaven." Deer Lodge Atfic Xortuccxt. |
